Manila High School
Manila High School is a public secondary school under the Division of City Schools-NCR of the Department of Education. It is located in Intramuros, Manila bounded by Muralla, Victoria and Escuela Sts. The school has a lot area of 5,143.50 sq.m. The school community has a student population of 3,524 students. There are about 180 employees, 22 (12%) are non-teaching staff and 158 (87%) are faculty members. 43 (23%) are males and 137 (77%) are females.
Of the total student population, 2,902 (82%) are Manila residents and 610 (17%) are non-Manila residents. About 1,771 (5%) are males and 1,753 (49%) are females. Transferees from private school totaled 86 (2%) of the total student population and coming from other public schools are about 196 (5%) of the total student population. Enrolled students are increasing every school year, SY 2000-2001 – 3,024 students, SY 2001-2002 – 3,114 students, SY 2002-2003 – 3, 205 students and this SY 2003-2004 – 3524 students.
Around 1,075 are first year students divided into 22 sections, 938 are second year students divided into 19 sections, 843 are third year students divided into 18 sections and 623 are fourth year students divided into 15 sections.
The school has a SPED Program with 45 students, 5 are first year students, 12 are second year students, 13 are third year students and 15 are fourth year students.
The Academic Program is divided into areas: English, Filipino, Mathematics, Social Studies, TEPP-Home Economics,TEPP- Technology Education, SPED, Science and Technology, Values Education and MAPEH.
The building identification of Manila High School is building 1 – partly 3 and partly 4 sty building needed to repaired or renovated. It was constructed in the year 1966 through the Manila City fund. It has a total floor area of 4,668 sq. m. It has 92 rooms, 77 academic rooms and 15 non-academic rooms. It has only 51 classrooms, 36 serviceable and 5 are non-serviceable. It has only 1,900 existing arm chairs.
