LOBACA

Lower Barangay Community (LOBACA) is one of the depressed communities of Barangay San Antonio, Valley I in Paranaque City.   It has a total land area of 20, 641 square meters.  The community has a total population of 4,000, about 500 households.

General Profile
The biggest number of respondents belong to age bracket 41-45, with 12 respondents or 24% of the total respondents.

20 respondents or 40% of the total respondents are male and about 30 respondents or 60% of the total respondents are female. Married respondents account to 41 respondents or 82% of the total respondents. Only 9 respondents or 18% of the total respondents are not married.

About 21 respondents or 42% of the total respondents did not finish high school and only 11 respondents or 22 % of the total respondents finished high school. Only 9 respondents or 18% of the total respondents are college level and 7 respondents or 14% of the total respondents finished college.

Economic Profile
Only 18 respondents or 36% of the total population are employed. About 20 respondents or 40% of the total respondents are self-employed and 12 respondents or 24% of the total respondents are unemployed. Most of the respondents’ monthly income falls under the income bracket 1000-below. Comparing with the monthly expenditures, most of the respondents’ expenses fall under expenditure bracket 4000-below.

More than 50% of the respondents are resident-owners. Only 5 respondents or 10% of the total respondents are renting and 4 respondents or 8% of the total respondents are squatting.

Most of the respondents have television set which account to 41 respondents or 82% of the total respondents. About 32 respondents or 64% of the total respondents have VHS/VCD/DVD player, 29 respondents or 585 of the total respondents have refrigerator, 24 respondents or 48% of the total respondents have stereo and 30 respondents or 60% of the total respondents have radio.

Spiritual Profile
40 respondents or 80% of the total respondents are Catholic and the remaining 10 or 20% of the total respondents are Non-Catholic.

About 32 respondents or 64% of the total respondents attend Church activities once a week. 38 respondents or 76% of the total respondents are not members of any Church organizations. Only 12 respondents or 24% of the total respondents have membership in Church organizations.

Health Profile
Cough, fever, colds and flu are the most common sickness in the household. Most of the respondents attend to medical consultation occasionally, 30 respondents or 60% of the total respondents. About 12 respondents or 24% of the total respondents go to community health worker and 35 respondents or 70% of the total respondents go to the doctor for medical consultation. Most of the respondents go to community health center/barangay health center for consultation. About 15 respondents or 30% of the total respondents take commercial drugs for medication and only 11 respondents or 22% of the total respondents take herbal medicines.

Most of the respondents go for rice, vegetables, fish, meat, bread and noodles. Most of the respondents’ water source, 33 respondents or 66% of the total respondents, is NAWASA. Others prefer the deep well, 9 respondents or 18% of the total respondents and water stations, 8 respondents or 16% of the total respondents.

Socio-cultural
Watching movies is preferred by 21 respondents or 42% of the total respondents as to their recreational activity. Only 8 respondents or 16% of the total respondents like sports and 5 respondents who make up the 10% of the total respondents are engaged in gambling.

As to membership in civic organizations, about 37 respondents or 74% of the total respondents are not members of any organization and 13 respondents or 26% of the total respondents are members of a civic organization.
